Two weeks ago Brian and myself went elk hunting near Raton, NM. My dad and Bryce also went along to help out but not have permits. We got out there and about an hour into the hunt my dad spotted an elk laying down on the side of a hill. I went ahead and shot her once in the face at 260 yards away, blowing her jaw off!! When I shot, elk started running everywhere. We drove up the road and found some more of that herd coming through a clearing. Brian picked out one of those cows coming out and shot her at 250 yards away.
